My partner and I are starting the process now of having a house designed and built to be ready to move to in two years. It's a lifelong wish of mine to live there since I first visited in 1962.
We've just set up a blog to document what we go through in the process. http://livingoutbeyond.com

Never wait for something to happen. Make it happen.

That’s exactly it Walter. It’s all about living life to the fullest. Actually I don't like the term lifestyle design, it sounds like a template. What is important in life is using all of our abilities in order to live life to the fullest. :-)

Many times I have encountered the term Lifestyle Design and I’ve got no idea what is it. If it's beautiful place, people are going to find it regardless. Those travel agents sure aren't trying to hide any part of Thailand from travellers.
The point is to help people find their own secret spots and for them to do it for their own reasons, not because you told them to.

Thanks Cody.

If it’s beautiful place, people are going to find it regardless. But, there are a few secret spots left. Anyway, true points nonetheless—fantastic article Ross.

Haha, most the beaches in Thailand are filled with Westerners, and it’s nothing new—they’ve been out here since the 50s. You got it Charley. There will never be an end to people who know exactly what they want and spend every waking minute reeling that goal in.
I have to say though, even if you were to get half way there and you're sitting on a beach anywhere doing "work", I'd say you're doing pretty good!

Thanks Karl!

You got it Charley. The point that hits home for me best is the last one...if you're living someone else's untemplated lifestyle, and it's not what you want deep down, then you're living a template. True lifestyle design is designing the life you want. And that will never die even if all the beaches in Thailand get filled by Westerners.
